HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY LOGAN!!

Today is Logan's birthday-he is 6 years old! His birthday is always and extra special day for me because it is the anniversary of the day that I became a mother. I love being Logan's mother, even though at times it can wear me down! But I wouldn't trade it for the world. I have such a special bond with Logan and even though he has been through a lot in the last few years, I have such high hopes for him and can't wait to see him grow and become something wonderful!

I took Logan to school so I could bring his class donuts and when he walked in the class as his friends shouted surprise-Happy Birthday! Then the teacher made him a birthday crown which he wore all day and they sung to him. Then when he got home I had balloons and a big banner for him and gave him some of his presents. His favorite gift was the portable DVD player that he has been asking for, so he can watch TV in the car. His birthday party is on Saturday at the Kids First Swim Club. Several of his friends from school are coming as well as family. I'm sure he will have a blast!!

Snow Tubing!!!

Well I've never been snow tubing, or skiing for that matter, so when I heard about this place that was less then an hour away from me where it was nothing but snow tubing, it seemed like ther perfect place to go. I knew it wouldn't be good to take Alex, but Logan was so excited!! We went with my brother Rick and his girlfriend Laura. After a very interesting ride there (the GPS decided to avoid ALL major roads and took us through corn fields and farms!), we got there around 1:00. We immediately got in line with our tubes to go up the pulley track, which hooks to your tube and drags you up the hill. Logan was a little scared at first, as was I, but as soon as we got to the top and got ready, the man did not give us any time to second guess!! We zoomed down the hill together and loved it!!! We ended up spending most of the day there, trying the different lanes and even the kiddie slope. I would love to go back again with more people, and stay the night at the hotel there-it was such a fun day!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

The boys both had Valentine's Day parties at school on Friday-so they already had lots of candy and cards. But I always get them something special. Logan really wanted the movie Space Buddies, so I got him that, and a big Hershey Kiss.

Alex got a light up globe and a small box of chocolates, along with the big Hershey Kiss too.

Then we went with all the cousins swimming and then got ice cream from Dairy Queen. It was a very "sweet" day!!

Busy Busy Busy!!

Wow I feel like the last few weeks have been crazy! Mainly with my job-some of the group assignments have changed and that means that I've had to go into the office more to help out. Now normally I wouldn't mind this-but I tell you-I don't know how you people do it!! Trying to get 2 kids up, fed breakfast, dressed and out the door in time to get to work, is impossible!!! I guess I'm just spoiled, but I've never really had a time restraint in the mornings-except to get Logan on the bus, which can be a challenge in itself! Plus the driving to and from work, takes time away from my work, and I wind up having to work late at night. Hopefully this will slow down some-this week shouldn't be too bad.

But my update is that Justin is finally back to work, he is going to try to go full time this week for the first time in a year. He's been doing part time, but feels that he is up to doing all day. He is still recovering from the surgery pain, but he thinks the pain pump is working on his legs and is looking forward to starting the weaning process off his oral meds.

Logan has his good and bad days-he is doing well in school, but there are days that he is just off-and has a bad day. I'm hoping that with the psychological testing they are doing there, he will finally get a diagnosis that we can work with.

Alex is good-although I've decided to have a speech evaluation done on him. He is just not talking like he should be by this age. He repeats anything, but its hard to understand and he still babbles alot, and does not communicate well. We'll see what they say, I hope they can help him-he has a lot to say-he just can't quite get it all out!!!

Well that's about it-I'm so behind on all my personal stuff-but gotta make money!!!

Day with Logan

Logan had off school on Monday the 26th, so I decided to take off work and spend the day with him. We started off dropping Alex off at daycare and then had a wonderful breakfast at his favorite place-The Waffle House. Then we went to the Wolfgang Chocolate Factory for a tour. It was really neat-small and old fashioned. The workers do most of the stuff by hand and it was interesting to see how it all gets put together. They gave us some yummy free samples and then we headed to McDonald's for lunch. I really enjoy these days with Logan, being able to take him places and spend one on one time with him!

My new Haircut

Well I am such an impulsive person, when it comes to big decisions like say-chopping off all my hair!! I have been thinking about it, but never really thought enough to make an appointment or anything. So yesterday I'm at the mall getting my eyes examined and look across to the hair salon. I think-okay I'm here and I have time-so might as well take the plunge. I told the woman that I wanted a LONG bob, angled to my face. So she starts cutting and I can't see what she is doing but what I do see if huge globs of my hair on the ground. I started to panic alittle but thought, it will be fine-I might be surprised. Well I sure was surprised!! It was alot shorter then I wanted and the way she styled it made me look like a mushroom! I knew I would have to play with it myself in order to really tell how it was, so I rushed home and started messing with it. I noticed that she just cut the back of my hair straight across which looked stupid. I wanted it to be shorter in the back and stacked. I guess I wasn't specific enough. So I went to a different salon by me and showed the girl a picture of what I wanted. She knew exactly how to do it, but since the first woman had cut it so Short, there wasn't much she could do with the front, but she did stack the back. Overall I do like it, I love the back , but it needs to be about 2 inched longer in the front. My hair grows fast so it won't take long. The good thing is that its really healthy looking and when I went to wash my hair today, and dry it, it take half the time to dry and I didn't even have to style it, it just fell into place. Justin hates it, but he has always liked long hair better-I told him he wasn't the one having to style it every day!! So we'll see how it looks in a few weeks, its only hair!!!
This is how it looked after the first cut
Then this is after the second cutThis is how it looked after I styled it this morning

Random stuff

Well since I haven't written in awhile-I guess I'll just update the things that have been going on. Justin started back to work yesterday, although now he thinks that the catheter in his back is hitting the sciatic nerve in another spot, and making his right leg have pain. He goes to the doctor today to see if it can be re-set. But he doesn't have pain anywhere else, so that's good. This is just another bump in the road for us, we are pretty used to it by now.

I had an IEP meeting for Logan, and they finally decided to go forward with the psychological testing. I'm so glad, because I really want to get him a diagnosis so that they know how to help him. They are looking at Bipolar disorder, ADHD, and Aspergers. I know he doesn't have Aspergers, but he does have the characteristics of both Bipolar and ADHD. I just want him to be happy and succeed in school, whatever he has.

Alex is .....Alex!! He has really started to speak more words and sentences, and now he is able to tell me things like if and where he is hurt, if he is hot or cold, and basic commands. I just love hearing his little voice, its so cute and watching him and Logan interact is priceless!! He has become quite a handful though-he hates getting dressed or having his diaper changed. He doesn't want his diaper on, but doesn't always go to the potty. He is SUCH a picky eater and has a major sweet tooth.

Me-I'm doing pretty good. I joined a 24 hour gym by me and love going there. Its my little escape from the world and a place that I can be alone. Plus I've already lost 4 lbs and that is so encouraging to me. I want to lose at least another 10 lbs and I think I can do that. Its a new year and I have a new outlook on life!!
